An aviation sewing job involves using industrial sewing machines to manufacture or refurbish aircraft interiors (like seats and panels) and safety equipment (like parachutes). Key responsibilities include cutting and preparing materials, operating and maintaining sewing machines, ensuring quality standards are met, and performing detailed record-keeping in compliance with aviation regulations.  

Key responsibilities

• Fabrication and Refurbishment:

Sewing and upholstering aircraft interiors, including seats, covers, and panels, according to customer specifications and engineering drawings. 

• Safety Equipment Assembly:

Constructing and assembling components for aviation life support equipment, such as parachutes, using specialized materials and sewing techniques. 

• Material Preparation:

Cutting fabrics, webbing, and other raw materials by hand or using automated cutting tools. 

• Machine Operation:

Setting up and operating industrial and specialized sewing machines, adjusting settings for tension, thread, and stitch types. 

• Quality Control:

Inspecting finished products to ensure they meet company standards and aviation regulations, checking for defects in stitching and materials. 

• Maintenance:

Performing routine maintenance on sewing machines, such as oiling, cleaning, and changing needles.
